This isn't really a help post.. just something I thought was pretty cool..

I've had this Asus P7P55 mobo, i7-860, and G.Skill DDR3 1600 CL7 ram for a while, now.. and I overclocked the cpu via the LevelUp thing built into Asus bios..

A couple of weeks ago the power went out, and earlier today I went into my bios to reassign some stuff and I saw my cpu wasn't overclocked anymore, so I did it manually (3.37ghz).. but then I noticed something I hadn't before.. my ram was only running at 1333! timing was 9-9-9-28-1N

So I put in the timing the ram is supposed to have.. 7-8-7-24-2N... and it has made a HUGE difference in performance. (6.9 to 7.5 out of 7.9 in windows assessment) I load websites nearly twice as fast.. programs open so fast I literally blink and miss them.

Just thought I'd post, in case any of you haven't checked your timings to see if they're what they should be.. especially if you have an Asus board.

Asus Boards are notorious for that. I have a Dual core(old pc) and i had to do the same thing. If you don't manually setup the ram setting the bios goes with the default.

That is great just remember to watch the temp on the ram it can get hot at higher voltage. Don't want to burn out the ram. :thumbs
