This is the final warning to many of you that feel its important to spam rockets and stickies into enemy spawn on the Crit server. Spawn camping is not allowed. It is considered spawn camping if your team is not trying to capture the last point on a map or very near the end of a map on a payload and you have to go near enemy spawn to cap it. If camping goes on for more than a reasonable length of time to complete this objective you are doing it wrong / not playing as a team and I suggest you reevaluate your strategy. Camping is to cease at that point.
We have followed our standard policy of warning and kicking abusers. The admin team is tired of warning and kicking the same Viper members repeatedly. Therefore, starting today, we will be issuing temporary bans to those we catch spawn camping when there is not a legit reason.
The admin team wants to ensure fun and fair play for everyone on the crit server and we are committed to resolving the problem of spawn camping that has been ongoing for a very long time. Dealing with spawn camping repeatedly takes game time away from our admins so when you do it, you are not only reducing the fun for the opposing team, you are wasting the time and frustrating members of our admin team. Spawn camping is against the rules and we will follow our policy for such. Just a reminder, when you break almost any rule, an admin will do the following:
First offense - warn (both verbally and through the typed 'chat' box) Second offense - kick or slay (admin discretion) Third offense - temporary ban(s) (30 mins. to 24 hours based upon admin discretion) Fourth offense - permabans/removal from the community (admin team discretion)
Just to be clear - these offenses do NOT need to occur on the same day. If you are caught once today and then again next week, it will be considered your second offense. If you are caught again in a month, it will be considered your third offense. We feel our policy is fair and ensures the game remains fun for everyone. Please do not try to debate our policy with an admin while on the servers. This type of discussion is more suited to the forums. If you try to argue on the servers you will be ignored. We feel breaking a specific rule 4 times shows you aren't able to live up to our community's standards.
We realize in the past, we have been more relaxed and not always disciplined people for disobeying the rules, however, consider this a warning - because we are frustrated with the refusal of certain members to obey the rules. If you are caught, do not expect us to overlook it.

Can we still spawn camp on the Nest on PL Maps?
If the action is at least semi-near that spawn, then yes. That's an effective and sometimes required strategy in payload maps. However, it's probably not alright if you're on red and make it back to blue's spawn when the cart is near the last point, for instance. There's other things that factor in too, such as what class you play, whether or not you have a medic with you, etc.

So lets say I am a Demoman and I stick Stickys right infront of the Spawn door so when someones trys exitting I set them off it kills them then keep doing that.
I do it all the time on Payload maps. Usually people on the other team yell at me saying I should quit it.

There is a difference between trying to accomplish an objective near the enemy's spawn, and spawn camping. If you venture towards the enemy spawn to kill a sniper, take out a teleporter, then that is perfectly fine if you leave once you're job is done. Another exception is when you are about to capture the final point. In order to win it is almost necessary to prevent the insta-spawners from defending their point. What we are trying to crackdown on is when people deliberately hang around the enemy's spawn when they have no business being there and spam the hell out of the enemy team.
Epic, I would still consider that spawn camping. However on a regular server, it is a lot easier to counter that. You might be able to get away with that a couple of times before you get hunted down since you need to lay more than just 1 sticky down. But on the crit server a single demoman could do that several times in a row using just 1 or 2 stickies.

This is especially true on the crit server where you can usually launch rockets and stickies into the opposing spawn so that people die before they even have a chance to move. This isn't nearly as big of an issue on the Nest, where the majority of the maps played are stock maps that have spawn doors to prevent such actions. Also, obviously, every single sticky and rocket is a crit so it does a ton more damage. Without the 100% crits, spawn camping on the Nest is far less likely to last an extended period of time with no chance of the camped team pushing out of spawn.

Yeah. Moose slayed me a few times when I did. But it was just to push the cart easyer. I could of gotten killed easyly by a Scout that tricked my sticky trap.

I hate spawncamping... If the opposing team can't even walk out of spawn because of your "trap" then that is considered spawn camping.

If it's near the combat and cart, it's ok. Send one person out to take the stickies and then others out after that to take out the demo.
