The griefing and spawn camping was so bad this morning on Engie Fort in the Crit server, all the cool regular people left. Leaving nothing but random people, who insisted on ruining the game for everyone.
I'm hoping that we can get admins on more often to help prevent things like this. If not, I would be more than willing to offer my services to help maintain light control over the server when we get people like this who want to destroy the server population for an X amount of time.
I've been thinking about the donation thing for awhile, but since I kept hearing that there were some troubles with it, I have hesitated. Let me know what you want to see from me, and I'll try to make that happen. I have had extensive admin experience. From running my own server for a year, to being admin for several other servers I would visit on a regular basis. I know I'm still rather new around here. I'm well aware of trust issues and the like. I wouldn't go around and hand out admin to just anyone on my old server either. If there is some sort of application process, or interview, I would be more than willing to answer a few questions. I'm not asking for all the cool controls either, just a couple basics that would help keep the server in order. Such as Map change, to keep us away from maps that empty the server and the ability to kick the randoms who enjoy making the game less fun for others.
I'm on often. I have good character. I'm 29 and mildly mature. I would love to help out.
i was told a while ago that more admin positions were not needed. if this has changed then i would also like to put my name up for admin.. you all know that i play on the server very often and i check the forums at least once a day. id love to make vipers a better place for everyone.

First, asking or suggesting for admin abilities will ruin your chances of getting them. Second, donating helps keep Viper servers alive, so consider donating to help the community. Third, add admins to your friends list because we are all more than happy to hop on the server and correct issues unless we happen to be afk.

Mature at 29? Holy crap. How'd you do that? I'm worried about my future now.
*busts into song* "I don't want to grow up, I'm a Toys' R Us kid, there's a million toys at Toys 'R Us that I can play with! More bikes, more trains, more video games, it's the biggest toy store there is! I don't want to grow, because then if I did, I wouldn't be a Toys 'R Us kid!"
*ahem* Sorry 'bout that.
As for donating, as far as I know, it works 99% of the time. You donate and within one map change on each server you have the donor abilities available to you. Linux has done a good job keeping the server plugin updated with new hats/items that Valve releases and keeps it functioning through game updates what tend to break other plugins. I've maintained the donation script that you fill out and it queues up your benefit activation on map change. What have you heard that's not working? I/we'd be glad to take a look at it, but I haven't heard of any major issues.
Edit: And...I forgot to respond to the part about admins... Do you have any of them on your Friends list? I know I'm usually not around during the day, but others are. If you don't have us, feel free to get us added.

I understand that very well. I had the same rule with the guys over at my old place. If people were pestering us for an admin spot, they usually didn't get it. That's why I'm not pushing the issue, nor bringing it up anymore than this one thread. I know a have a couple admins on my friends list. (I don't actually know if I've ever seen you in a game). I'm sure there are more admins out there, I just haven't seen them around, or I would have been attempting to add them to friends. I also have this thing about adding complete strangers to my friends. I would hope more people were like this too. I don't just go and randomly add people without getting to know them a little first. If I've played several games with you, enough to know who you are, then I'll usually try to add ya to friends. It doesn't really help when people change their name often either, I lose track of people that way >.<
I'm easily frustrated these days, I quit smoking. Waking up to play a game and dealing with rampant spawn camping right off the bat isn't fun for anyone. I'm someone who likes to get servers populated if I see them empty, and when i see it's empty because of kids spawn camping, it makes me a sad panda.
This whole thread was made, (more or less) to help bring this issue up to attention yet again. With equal parts of rage from not smoking. I suppose I'm just sitting here posting all this because I'm not spending this time smoking like I usually would. lol. Take it how you will.

I am on a lot on my night time lately, and hell, I stay up until 5 am with you guys on the servers, damn time differences, and I despise anyone spawn camping on my watch, because whenever that happens, I become the tough Spawn camping Police admin. no one dares to do it again on my watch. I got it covered those late (my late) times, but as for your early morning, I am often away from my PC, so you gotta either donate, or find some active admin that is gonna be certainly willing to help.
